Algonquin
Provincial Park Wolf Trip
The goal of the trip is to enjoy the beauty of Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, learn the basics of tracking wildlife and specifically, learn about the Algonquin Wolf, its ecology and inter-specific interactions with wildlife in and outside
of the Park. Researchers working in the Park will provide entertaining and informative talks on wolves, gray jays, white-tailed deer, coyotes and marten. Our days will be consumed by
hiking, snow shoeing, birding and tracking wolf, fox, marten, fisher and a variety of
other weasels and rodents. More ground can be covered with X-Country Skiis but
they are not necessary. We will stay in the Wildlife Research Center cabins which
are heated, lighted and comfortable.
We have occasional access to one inside bathroom but for the most part, we learn
to love the outhouses. We also have access
to showers right across the road day and
night! The cost for this is included. We
share bunk space and a kitchen in the main cabin where we prepare our own food.
We keep the costs down by asking each participant to bring one dinner, prepared
ahead of time and warmed in the oven on “your” night to cook. Breakfast and lunch
is provided. The approximate cost is $595.00
plus your travel to the Park. I can provide
more information on the specifics when you contact me.
